Rick Dean Miner

Our loving brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on the morning of January 9, 2021.

He was the first born to Wallace Dean and Marian Rose Mower Miner in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up in the Canyon Rim 4th ward as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He graduated from Skyline High School and attended the University of Utah. He was an avid reader growing up and rumor had it that he read every book in the school library. Rick was smart and knew a little bit about everything. He could talk with anyone about history, politics and appreciated a good joke. As a young adult he traveled all over the world and gained many life experiences. This may have been where he gained his enthusiasm for Chinese food. Rick enjoyed eating out; Mexican, Italian and even fast food, but he always knew the best spot in town for egg foo young and craved the spice of Kung Pao Chicken often.

Rick had many passions. He was an avid Jazz fan and cheered them on at home games as a season ticket holder for many years. He enjoyed music, especially live concerts and listening to his record or CD collection. But above all, anyone who knew Rick knew his infatuation with movies. Rick was always at the movie theater and could always be counted on for a good recommendation. He loved going to the movies with his family or watching his vast selection of DVDs at home.

He was a great companion to his ageing parents who preceded him in death. He was a wonderful brother to his siblings. He was preceded in death by his brother and buddy Scott (Nancie). He is survived by his sister Camille (Breck) Salmond, his brother Matt (Melanie) Miner and sister Celeste Wesemann. He delighted in outings with his eight nieces Heidi, Mallory, Carissa, Melissa, Maddie, Lydia, Monique and Andrea. He is also survived by great aunts and many cousins.

His family would like to thank those who cared for him at Hunter Hollow or served him throughout his life with his other medical and health issues.

A short viewing will be held at 10:30 with services following at 11:00 at Holbrook Mortuary on Wednesday, January 13. Interment Services at Wasatch Lawn.  Friends and family are invited to watch the funeral services online.
