Rosemary Campagna "Susie" Obituary

Our loving mom (Grandma Sue), sister, aunt and friend returned home to her Heavenly Father on February 11, 2021 with all her children beside her. Susie was born on April 18, 1941 in Brigham City, Utah to Vera Ethel Hubbard and Earl Lynn Hoskins. She was raised on a family farm in a house that her great grandfather built in Henderson Creek just south of Malad, Idaho. Their home did not have the modern conveniences of indoor plumbing, heating, or cooling.  As a child she was very adventurous and thought of to be a lot like little "Annie Oakley". She moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1957 and graduated from South High School in 1959. She later attended Salt Lake Community College.

As a teenager she had her own car which was rare for young women in high school at that time.  She married her high school boyfriend, Don Lee Campagna, who attended Granite High School, on June 10, 1959. Together they owned and operated two cafes and raised five children: Rick, Karen, Debbie, Susie, and Dawnie.

Susie was a very loving and devoted wife and mother, with an easy going personality.  Her kids could always count on her for help, support, and encouragement.  She was unique in many ways. One example is when she piled her kids in a truck and camper and drove them on trips to the Oregon coast and to Oklahoma.  She was very mechanically inclined, skilled in accounting, and stayed informed of current events. She also enjoyed the computer, reading, and serving others.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as sports director, primary teacher, Junior Sunday School coordinator and fellowship and visiting teacher.  She was very generous and always available to help someone in need but seldom allowed others to help her.  She had a great sense of humor and always made everyone feel loved and special. We all loved and needed her so much that we don’t know how we’ll live without her.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister-in-law, Lois Hoskins; son-in-law, Paul Hammond; many precious cousins, aunts, uncles, and relatives.  She is survived by her siblings, Curtis Hoskins, Jean (Byron) Bleazard, Joe (Becky) Hoskins; her children, Rick (Michelle), Karen, Debbie (Brian) Larsen, Susie, and Dawnie (Bryan) Williams; 16 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.

Everyone is invited to a viewing that will be held on Wednesday, February 17th from 6-8 pm at Holbrook Mortuary located at 3251 South 2300 East, Millcreek, UT.  Due to covid guidelines, services will be held by invitation only on Thursday, February 18th at Holbrook Mortuary beginning at 11:00 AM.  Other family and friends are welcome and encouraged to watch the services online at HolbrookMortuary.com.
