Rosina Lipp Haidenthaller

Our mother, Rosina Lipp Haidenthaller was born December 18, 1934, in Mitterlaab/Puchberg, Austria to Karl Lipp and Rosina Gutenbrunner Lipp.  She was the third of four children and second daughter.  Mom, with her three siblings was born and raised in the Catholic Church.  She married Ingomar Josef Haidenthaller on August 4, 1953.  Together they have seven children - 5 sons, and 2 daughters.  On July 29, 1956, she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Wels, Austria and was an active participant there until October 16, 1962, when she and Dad immigrated with five children to Utah.  Following their immigration, two more children were born. 

On May 28, 2020, mom returned home to be with her loving husband.  She is preceded in death by her father, mother, younger brother, two grandsons, one granddaughter and husband.  She is survived by her two older siblings Adelheid (Heidi) Walchshofer; and Karl Lipp; two sisters-in-law Gertraude (Traudi) Lipp; and Anni Lipp; her seven children and their spouses Günther Johannes (Diane) Haidenthaller; Werner Ingomar (Rosalind) Haidenthaller; Reinhard (Brenda) Haidenthaller; Harald Peter (Joni) Haidenthaller; Andrea Doris (Michael) Maxfield; Edwin Georg (Brenda) Haidenthaller; and Jacqueline Annette (Steven) Michels; 41 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

While growing up in Austria, mom attended an elementary school for young ladies focusing on etiquette and manners and repeated one year due to WWII.  She completed an education at Business College certifying in Business Administration.  Mom LOVED school so much that at one point she considered teaching.

Mom was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions including, three Relief Society presidencies, teaching primary, cub scouts and guide scouts, church chorister, and singing in the ward choir with her husband because of their shared love of music.  As a cub scout and guide scout leader she was able to enjoy several Tracy Wigwam trips and some hiking excursions.  Those activities gave her the opportunity to share her deep love of nature.  Even as a family, when she wasn’t busy with one of her church assignments, she and Dad took the family on mountain outings including picnics in Church Fork canyon, hiking to the top of Grandeur Peak to watch 4^th of July fireworks and hiking many other trails in Big and Little Cottonwood canyons.  Family vacations in the summer were always centered around nature, camping, and playing together.

Mom’s love of nature stems from her early childhood growing up in the mountains of Austria.  She often spoke of her childhood joys living in the country and watching for deer coming out from the cover of trees to graze at dusk.  She talked of her memories walking on the crisp snow under the starlit skies on her family’s way home from Christmas Mass.  Mom instilled her love of nature and the mountains in all her children and grandchildren who continue to spend time outdoors.

As her children got older, mom was asked to set up a tri-stake extraction program and served as the language coordinator and trainer.  She did that willingly and served in that capacity until her husband died in November of 1980.  After his death, she found a job working for the Latter-day Saint Church in family history records extraction.  She also served in the Salt Lake Temple for nine years.  When she retired from church employment, she served a proselyting mission from 1997 to 1999 in Vienna, Austria.  She also served as her grandson’s missionary companion after her proselyting mission, on a service mission in the Church’s Family History department.  With all of her dedication to so many things, mom’s greatest love and devotion was her children and grandchildren.  Her memory and beauty will be remembered by all whom she loved and served throughout her life.

Family will gather for funeral services on Friday, June 5, 2020, 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, The Skyview Ward located at 1361 East 4000 South, Millcreek Utah 84124.  Extended family and friends are invited to watch a livestream of the funeral services which will be available just below this obituary on the day of the services.  Interment at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Millcreek, Utah 84117.
