Sherry Erickson Obituary

Sherry Ray Erickson, aged 80 years, died on August 12, 2025, in South Jordan, Utah, from M.S,. which she suffered from since the mid 80’s. She was born on August 29, 1944, in Salt Lake City Utah to Ella Gifford and Ray Brackenberry. She married Ted Erickson on August 26, 1960. Sherry met the love of her life at the age of 13. They both knew they were meant for each other. This month they would've celebrated their 65th anniversary. Once mom became immobile, he wouldn't leave her side unless he absolutely had to and only for very short times. Though marriage is hardly ever perfect, they were loyal to each other.

Sherry was a very giving person. She loved to serve others. She spent years in the PTA at our grade school and would help anyone that needed it. Especially her children and grandchildren. She loved to crochet and had been doing that as long as I can remember until her hands would no longer allow her to. One Christmas she crocheted stuffed animals for her nieces and nephews which at that time was over fifteen or so. The last thing she crocheted was doll blankets for the youngest great granddaughters. I have fond memories of how active she was. She played tennis, was on a bowling league for years and loved to square dance, this became a family hobby until she could no longer dance. We went camping so many times and mom always had everything completely prepared. She married young and wasn’t able to complete her high school degree. Once we were all born, mom went back to school and earned her degree. Quite an accomplishment with four children at home. They bought a business (MasterMark) back in the 90’s and she loved running the company and talked about it for years after she was no longer able to work. Prior to that she also worked for Target doing their payroll and had an to opportunity to meet Red Skeleton who came in to buy toys for the local children’s hospital. He took a picture with her. Mom tried her very best to stay positive throughout her illness. As difficult as it was, she accepted her situation, keeping her sense of humor and quick wit throughout her life. She is much loved by so many and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her sister Susan Allen (preceded in death by husband Gene), husband Ted Erickson. Her daughter Brenda Park, son Roger Erickson (Mindy), daughter Sandy Patterson (David), and Son James Erickson (preceded in death by wife Suyen). She has twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, Brothers and Sisters in Law and many many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her mother Ella Gifford, Brother Eugene Mason, Brother Marvin Mason, and many other beloved relatives who were waiting for her to join them on the other side.
