Shirley Seidel passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2018 at age 93. Born in Gower, Missouri, Shirley and her husband Don were indeed members of the ‘Greatest Generation’. She endured hardship with grace, was charmingly disobedient, a loyal and thoughtful friend, and above all an engaged and loving mother and grandmother. After World War II, she and Don were drawn to the Rocky Mountains, living in small mountain towns where she made life-long friends. Finally settling in Salt Lake City, she worked at St Marks Hospital for over forty years. She loved watching the seasons change in Millcreek Canyon, sharing sassy jokes over fine wines, and sitting by a roaring fire with a good book.
The family would like to thank Shirley’s many friends who enabled her to stay in her lovely home throughout her final months. She is survived by her brother Jim, her daughter Jayne, her son Jim, her much beloved granddaughter Lara, and her spoiled pets. In late spring, a celebration of her life will be held in the garden of her cherished home. Remembrance donations may be sent to the Humane Society of Utah.
Farewell sweet mom, grandma, and friend - we will miss you dearly.
