SIEGFRIED ETHER SCHUMANN

1928 – 2022

Siegfried was born August 21, 1928 in Breslau, Silesia, Prussia to Artur Schumann and Selma Auguste Marie Leibner. Siegfried passed away peacefully at 93 years old in South Jordan, Utah. He grew up in Germany.

Siegfried met and fell in love with Anneliese Klara Hurst. They were married on December 20, 1951 in Wuppertal, Germany. Their dream was to come to America. After saving enough money they arrived in America on April 6, 1953. They arrived by boat in New York City. They were overcome by emotion when they saw The Statue Of Liberty. They came to Utah to be close to family who had come to America.

Siegfried and Anneliese were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple June 18, 1953. They raised three children, Evelyn, Ralph and Harry.

Siegfried was a brick mason by trade until he retired. He loved to travel. He loved going on outings with the family, especially boating and fishing trips.

Siegfried had a strong testimony of the gospel and of Jesus Christ. He Served valiantly in various callings in the church. Siegfried loved reading and working in the yard. Siegfried loved playing the accordion, especially when the family got together. The grandchildren loved dancing to “The Chicken Dance Song” as he played.

Siegfried is proceeded in death by his wife, Anneliese, parents Artur and Selma Schumann, sisters, Vera (Beck) and Kathe. He is survived by his children, Evelyn (Don) Stallings, Ralph (Christine), Harry (Aysel), niece, Doris Jung. He has 15 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 16, 2022, starting at 11:00 in the Bluffdale Chapel located 14400 South Redwood Road, Bluffdale, Utah. Viewing will be held prior to the funeral at 9:00 – 10:30 am. Interment will take place following the services at the Memorial Mountain View Cemetery.

The family would like express their sincere appreciation to all those that took such tender and loving care of Siegfried at the Beehive Home of South Jordan.
