Terry Lee Lingwall

Terry Lee Lingwall was born March 25,1948 to Axel and June Lingwall in Salt Lake City, UT. Terry grew up in the East Millcreek area. In his youth, Terry enjoyed playing basketball and was very proud of the go-cart he spent years building. He was mechanically inclined and spent much of his time in his youth working on cars with the help of his father. Terry served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Texas Mission from ’67-’69. When he returned home, he met his "Sweetie", Margot Dietrick. They were sealed in the Salt Lake temple in 1971. Together they raised five sons; Bart, Adam, David, Jacob, and Jimmy in Sandy, UT. Terry loved coaching his sons’ basketball teams. Terry was employed by Kennecott Copper for over 20 years and was proud of his work done in the precious metals department and mining distribution. As a faithful member of the church, Terry served in his bishopric, the stake young men’s presidency and as a member of his stake high counsel among many other callings. Terry was known as the neighborhood mechanic and kindly served his neighbors by keeping their cars running. He had a quiet sense of humor and enjoyed watching comedies with his sons leaving behind many inside jokes. They spent a lot of time on family vacations with lots of boys crowded in the Sunbird traveling all over the western United States. Terry courageously battled many illnesses for the majority of his life exemplifying perseverance and strength. He demonstrated his faith and courage through his unconditional love for his family. He believed in his sons and was their champion. Terry passed away peacefully in his home on February 17, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Terry is survived by his wife, Margot, brother Mike (Joyce) and five sons; Bart (Danielle), Adam (Jennifer), David (Mariah), Jacob, and Jimmy. Terry leaves a legacy of 10 grandsons and 5 granddaughters. Terry was proceeded in death by his parents and brother, Don. A viewing will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at the LDS chapel on 1050 E.  10600 S., Sandy UT 84094 from 6:00-8:00pm. There will also be a viewing Thursday at the same location from 10:00-10:45am. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 24, 2022, at 11:00am. Internment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park following funeral services.
