Adam Ortell and Emily Rose (Holbrook) Pratt have been excitedly anticipating the next big adventure in their lives, the birth of their first child. They have sacrificed much and made room in their hearts and lives for this little one. As Tovin grew, so did Emily and Adam’s love for him. It was a joy to feel him grow, with all of the accompanying kicks, turns, and hiccups.
Sadly, Tovin slipped peacefully back to his heavenly home before he was born on March 13, 2021, at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was beautiful and perfectly formed with an angel face that made them love him even more. Tovin weighed 7 lbs 12 oz and measured 21.5 inches long. Adam and Emily now long for sleepless nights, wiggly hands and feet, little giggles and watching Tovin grow up.
Though we don’t understand all things, we have hope in God’s plan of eternal families and trust that in a coming day Emily, Adam and Tovin will be together again and experience in some degree all that they long for now. Until that day, Tovin will be their special angel to watch over them.
Tovin is survived by his parents; grandparents Nevin Ortell Mattingly and Denise (Kunz) Pratt and Thomas Richter and Lisa Catherine (Mitchell) Holbrook; great-grandparents; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. Tovin is named in honor of his two grandfathers, Tom and Nevin.
The family will hold a private memorial gathering at Holbrook Mortuary, Salt Lake City, Utah, on Thursday, March 18, 2021, after which Tovin will be interred at Bountiful City Cemetery, Bountiful City, Utah.
