William "Bill" Berg Obituary

Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. Bill was born in Heber City, Utah on September 14, 1931 to Oscar and Flora Berg. He was the sixth of ten children. Bill graduated from Wasatch High School in Heber City, Utah when he was in 11th grade.  That didn’t stop him from attending his 5th – 70th high school reunions twice per 5-year span to mingle and reminisce with his friends from both graduating classes. Bill was drafted into the Korean war where he served in the US Marine Corps (in his exact words) “1 year, 11 months, 20 days, 6 hours and 5 minutes”. He was very proud of his time served. On April 26, 1957 Bill married Diane Price “Snooks”, the love of his life, in the Salt Lake Temple.  While living in Lawndale California, he built homes with his brothers and then moved to Utah to start building his own home on “1917” as he called it, in Holladay, Utah.  He enjoyed spending time with family and taught them the value of hard work, love, compassion, and the true meaning of family.  He displayed these traits in his daily life alongside his “bride” Diane of 62 years.  He was her rock and best friend. They traveled across the country in the fifth wheel with their daughters enjoying the great outdoors exploring national parks and many other scenic areas.  After retiring from Hill Airforce Base, he built their retirement home at age 60 in Heber City, Utah returning to his roots.  Fun fact, Bill bungee jumped from the top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas when he was 70 years young.  Bill was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a faithful home teacher and enjoyed serving others. This was a great example to his family. Five years ago, Bill and his “bride” moved back to Holladay, Utah to be closer to his daughters and their families.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Flora, sisters Phyllis, Laura Marie, and his brothers Leo, Alvin, and Bernell.  Bill is survived by his wife Diane (Price), daughters Julee Stewart (Doug), Jenn Kambouris (Harry), Meridee Swenson (Brandon), grandchildren Savannah (Jason), Brandon (Danielle), Ashlee (Jeff), Alex (Erin), Kristopher, Katie, Hunter, Haylee and Easton, and 5 great-grandchildren Lucia, Ellie, Braxton, Kolton, Kyler.

Bill was a devoted father, husband and grandfather. He loved them more than anything in the world and he literally gave them everything he had. They truly loved him back.
