Richard Dewey Sampson

Richard Dewey Sampson passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at home.  He was born (December 11, 1930) and raised in Richfield, Utah.  He was the fourth child born to Dewey and Crystal Jorgensen Sampson; six other siblings followed.  After high school, he served in the National Guard.  He fought in the Korean War with the Battery A of the 213th Field Artillery Battalion.  Following the war, he served an LDS mission in South Africa.  He graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Agriculture.  He married Betty Christensen on July 16, 1971 in the Logan LDS Temple.  They made their home in Salt Lake.  He was a loving husband and father to their daughters Jennifer Going (Dan) and Nancy Lou Going (Glade).  He was a man of few words, but countless acts of quiet service.

He is survived by his daughters, sons-in-law, and brothers: Ballard, John, and Craig and his nine cherished grandchildren: Kailey, Brennen, Preston, Trevor, Ashley, Tanner, Sampson, Sadie, and Zac.  He was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Betty, his parents and his siblings: Nola Lou, Joe, Carol, Don, David, and Saundra.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 24th at 11 AM at the Winder 12th Ward, 4350 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City, UT.  A viewing will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the funeral.  A viewing will also be held Monday, November 23th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East.  Interment will be at the Elysian Burial Gardens.
