The Sampson family has been a part of my life forever. We grew up in the old Third Ward. Richard is my age and we graduated together. He and Betty lived here for a short while. Yes, quiet people doing quiet service wherever they saw it.. My sympathy to you and so thankful we have the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives. We know we will see all of our dear friends and family again. Marguerite C. Blake

Dear Uncle Richard,
I have many fond memories of you. Of particular importance to me are the times that you took me with you on a horseback ride up the canyon near Grandpa Sampson's farm. I loved the horses and was thrilled when I was invited to tag along. I felt so big to be part of the ride. Usually you would hold my reins from your horse and mine would follow. When I graduated to holding the reins myself, I knew I must be a real cowgirl now! I loved riding past the turkey farm and scaring the turkeys away from the fence. It made me laugh. I always thought I was helping in one way or another but now realize I probably kept you from finding whatever it was we were looking for. I also remember the time you and a couple of your brothers took us to the pasture to ride the Shetland pony. That was the toughest ride ever as the pony had a mind of his own. He took off running and jumped a ditch where I fell off. You came to my rescue. I think I remember you giggling at me. Thank you for those memories and all those wonderful ones that followed. I love you. Say hi to my mom. Love, Kim

Sorry to hear of your fathers passing. He was as stated, a man of few words, but what a great man he was and still is. He is now with his good wife and eternal parner once again.

I knew Crystal and Dewey, as I grew up in the old Richfield 6th ward. And Crystal worked with my grandmother, Hilma Nielson, at the hospital. Such a wonderful family. My condolences to the family. May God bless you with peace at this time

Unce Richard, My Dear Uncle, Sweet friend,
You were like my friend as I grew up in Murray. You were willing to take me The Bees Baseball Games as a Boy, teach me to drive at Grandpas Dairy in Richfield, when I was 10-12, we worked in the beetfields, thinning beets, for grandpa, you always helped my mother Nola, thoughtfully you cared for her trees, spraying them for insects. Without asking, you silently attending to many many acts of kindness.
I remember your leaving on your mission to South Africa, the Elephant Bookends, which you sent to our home stayed on the piano I played every day as it was a token which evoked my thinking of your Missionary service. You never used any foul language around me, but always spoke kindly of others.

I loved your many entrepenural ideas and thoughts. You were blessed with Betty, and your beautiful Daughters, how sweet they have been all these many years.

I will always be ever so grateful to you Richard for being patient, loving, kind and true all your life, as now you have passed this mortal test a true king, a servant, a Blessed example to a nephew, who thought of you as a true example of what an older brother can be. Love you forever...
