Bishop Carlson presided at my brother's funeral. It was a privelege to have him do so because he was such a loved and involved bishop to everyone on an individual level. His contributions will be remembered and missed for a time until we get to enjoy them again when we next see him.

I served with Barney in the England South West Mission. He was my District Leader in Plymouth.
My deepest sympathies to Cozette and family for their loss.
I remember his half way smile (at that time) very clearly.. I certainly will never forget him.

A BASKET GARDEN was sent on November 29, 2016

Our friendship and admiration all started with a "guys fishing trip" to Yellowstone! Barney was a true example of what a Dad should be. His love, kindness and sense of humor changed me on that trip! Thanks Barn for an unforgettable adventure! Love, The Hunsaker "B" Family

I have just received the word that Barney died on Thanksgiving. To Cozette, his Children, Grandchildren, his Mother Barbara, Siblings Charlene and Cory and extended Family members I am deeply saddened and know that he will be greatly missed. His re-union with his father, brother, Grandparents will be sweet and he will continue in serving and sharing the Gospel as he did here on Earth. May the Holy Ghost comfort you during this time and may the Lord be with you. Lots of Love, Always, Aunt Margie

Bishop Carlson was my bishop in the 40th Ward. Being a Young Single Adult bishop is a tough job, but he fulfilled his calling with so much love and compassion. I know he touched many lives and I will always appreciate his kindness and spiritual leadership. Keeping his family in my prayers during this difficult time.

Dear Cozette, please accept our heartfelt love and condolences at the passing of
a great friend, Barney. On a warm summer day in 1969, Barney stopped into the backyard of my family home in Holladay, UT and asked me a question that changed our lives forever. It regarded the Vietnam War, Missions, and Marriage. With the love and spiritual guidance of Bishop Blaine Hebdon, we both dedicated our lives to living the Gospel to it's fullest with our first-love eternal companions. We owe much to Barney. May our Heavenly Father's choicest blessings attend you and your family at this time. With Our Love and Respect,
Dave & Patsy Steadman

My dearest condolences to the Carlson Family for the loss of a great man. He was my Bishop at the University Ward at the U and it was because of Bishop Carlson that I served a mission at 25.

As a leader, Bishop helped mold me and put a fire under me that still burns today. My love for scriptures and love for service was started in his Ward and he made sure I was always involved and I believe that my opportunity to serve a mission probably wouldn't happen without him. Many were brought unto Christ, I married in the San Diego Temple, have 3 children and our eternal family might have never been without Bishop.

Bishop thought I had already served a mission and when he found out that I didn't, he set me up for success. I will always hold Bishop and Sister Carlson close to my heart.

This was a man who entered a room and lit it up with his spirit and his huge smile. I know I will see him again and am grateful that he lead by example!

My wife, daughters and I pray for your family that your prayers will be answered and that any sadness will soon turn to gladness and gratitude. Thank goodness he left a legacy of Faith, Hope, and Charity to all of you, his beautiful family, a legacy I know you are living and teaching your children.

To Sister Carlson, I love you and if I'm the only one you touched with your sweet spirit along the way, your life was a success! I know better though, you are admired and loved by so many.

God Bless you all!

Dear Cozette and Family, the Johns' have loved the Carlson family since moving here from SoCal 37 years ago. It is with heartfelt sadness that we say goodbye to Barney, but knowing that the parting will be temporary, it takes some of today's sting and puts eternity into perspective. We are saddened that we will be in the Dallas area for nearly two weeks and will miss the services so well deserved by Barney and the family. May the Lord continue to look after you in this very difficult time. Please know that you are loved by so many, including the whole Johns family. Love, Bob and Sharon Johns
