What a remarkable man dear Clyde was in life. I am so sorry for your loss. I loved working with him at the gym and he became very dear to me. His love of animals and general spirit was always to be admired and he was an inspiration to me in so many ways. His accomplishments were amazing in life and to have contributed so much to our world in teaching and legacy in the study of butterflies is beautiful. I am so grateful to have had the privilege of knowing Clyde, he will remain a beautiful memory in my life. I will miss him deeply.

Love, Kathleen and John

Thank you, Kathleen - Clyde's weekly visit to the gym with you was the highlight of his week. He'd eat better for the few days before a workout and get spruced up for his Friday session with you. You and John were/are positive, inspiring people in our lives.

Clyde was a classmate at Stewart School and later wrote his Master's Thesis in Geography, which I supervised.. He was a terrific fellow. Jim King

Thank you for your support, Jim. Clyde felt fortunate to have you as a friend and mentor, especially when he was writing his Master's thesis on butterflies - not the usual subject for a Master's thesis in geography.

Janet and family. We saddened to hear of your loss and our prayers are with you at this very sad time. We are still going through emotional ups and downs with the loss of my mom so I know what you are going through. Please know that our love extends over mountains to you Janet and your family. Remember all the good times and smile as you remember Clyde. God bless you all always and especially during this difficult time. Love Wendy & Dennis

Dear Wendy and Dennis - it makes it less hard when you have the belief that you will be together with your loved ones once again, doesn't it! Our extended family is pretty scattered geographically, with yours and Jeri's families in California, Dorothy in Germany, Pat's family in Arizona but still we're united emotionally and the "Walker women" will stay strong!

Dear Janet and family,
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your loss. Clyde will be dearly missed. He has a fond place in my heart and memory. I feel I need to credit him for my life long interest in Lepidoptera. His enthusiasm was very contagious. My buddy, Kirt Josephson, and I joined the Utah Lepidopterists' Society 40 years ago. At our meetings I was most impressed with his knowledge. He showed me how to keep good records and rearing information.. He would get excited when any of us found a new county record, documented a host plant for a caterpillar or discovered anything that would add to his immense knowledge of Utah butterflies. For years, he had been working on a book about Utah Lepidoptera. We would always tease him because his quest for perfection would never let him finish. Hopefully, that valuable information will get passed on. Though we didn't always see eye-to-eye on certain issues, I always respected him for his knowledge, concern and dedication..
Janet, may you and your family be filled with comfort and feel his love as he becomes your guardian angel.
Love, John

Dear John - you were special to Clyde. He enjoyed your company and enthusiasm for new knowledge concerning the butterfly world. Thank you for your kind words and concern. It's sad that so many of the Utah Lepidopterists Society members have passed on but maybe it isn't, because now they can all search for butterflies together! Love, Janet

It was an honor to work with Clyde - his dedication and knowledge of Utah butterflies and moths was unsurpassed, and will probably always remain so. His passion for hiking and the outdoors was also just incredible. He gave so much to our understanding of Utah leps. The huge body of work he left behind will always stand as a tribute to him. They just don't make them like that anymore. Much love to the Gillette family.

Dear Christy - you were a long-time friend and helper to Clyde and I really appreciate that. I understand that you gave a tribute to him and his work at the annual meeting of the national Lepidopterists' Society which was held in Park City in 2014. Is there some way to obtain a copy of the program for that meeting and your tribute? It would be wonderful to have for our family and it was so kind of you to have made that tribute.

Always remember, Clyde has only left the room. He will always be in our hearts. The sound of his voice and laughter remains.

Our love goes out to you and the family.

Dear Phyllis and Jim - thank you for your comforting message. We believe that Clyde will be grateful to meet with his father and all those he loved who have gone before (maybe even including his dear little doggy friends, Scamp, Bandi, and Shoo-C).
