Jay Duane Gray passed away on December 29, 2016. Jay was born on January 12, 1935 to Eudora Elma Pearce and Duane Yates Gray. Jay is survived by his wife Janice of Salt Lake; sisters Arlean, and Edna of Idaho Falls; children Elma & Steven Crowley, Jay (Dee) & Cortnie Gray, and Justin & Ramona Gray of Salt Lake; grandchildren Kayla Horsley, Katherine Horsley, Crystal Horsley, Tayler Gray, Jason Gray, Tishara Gray, Keaton Gray, Beau Smith, Taylor O’Brien, and Ashlynn Roper; great grandchildren Trenton Horsley, Katana O’Brian, Declan O’Brian, and Harlyn Gray.

Jay grew up in Idaho Falls, ID. He spent time in California and Hawaii while in the military. He served his military time during the Korean war. The last of his three marriages was spent with Janice and raising Elma, Dee, and Justin. He enjoyed spending time with his family on holidays. Jay always had a joke to tell. Anyone who spent time with Jay would always be cheered up by his sense of humor and his ability to always laugh at any situation.

Jay has worked many different jobs throughout his life. He enjoyed spending time at the swap meet selling and socializing with others. He always looked to find something that one person considered junk knowing that it could be a treasure for someone else. The accident that took his ability to walk happened as he was on his way to spend another day at the swap meet.

Jay will be loved and missed by his family and friends. He would give anyone anything he had that he thought could help them out. He was always willing to help anyone in any way that he could. The love and kindness he had for everyone that he had in his life will be missed by all that encountered Jay.

Jay D. Gray you will be missed by your family more than you ever know. We wish you could still be here with us to share in our lives. We know that you will always be watching over us free of the pain of your physical body. We are happy that you are now with the Lord, your parents, your siblings, and your child that passed before you.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road (Redwood Road) at 1:30pm.
