Dear Carol: Please accept my sincere condolences on Johnnie's recent passing. I was out of town for most of July and did not learn about his death until now. Although our paths haven't crossed very often in recent years I always think of you and Johnnie with love and gratitude for the kindness you showed to Ginger and me when we were new to SLC and FUMC. From my own recent experience with loss I can tell you that the next few months will be very difficult, but support of friends and family and your abiding faith in God will be a comfort to you. Please let me know if I can be of help in any way.

Sincerely, Doug Smith

Dear Carol,
I'm so sorry for your loss. That's a great picture.
Johnnie was a giant of a man and I was blessed to have known him for all these years. I still remember meeting him when we started our engineering careers at kennecott and becoming good friends.
One of my special memories is when he took me bobcat hunting near the smelter at night. We had a spotlight and he let me have the rifle. We spotted a "bobcat" and I shot it. He then says "you know what I think it was a deer". Sure enough it was a fawn. We cleaned it out with a small pocket knife and warily took it home. It really made excellent steaks.
Johnnie truly left this world a better place for his being here.
Take care
Love, Mary and Jerry
