I love this man and his family, they showed me that an eternal family love can be real, and teached me the power of a real testimony and God's service. "Saudades" till we meet again!

I express my deepest sympathies to the family of President Sorensen. His influence on my life has been deep, having served as a missionary in Brazil under his direction in 1973 to 1975. I was happy to see him here in New Jersey where we live when he served among the Seventy on a couple of occasions which brought much delight and always pleasant and inspring memories.
He was one of the finest of the Lord's servants. "Tenho saudades."

President Sorensen and my Dad, Hal Johnson, served their first missions together in Brazil and remained the closest of friends throughout their lives. President Sorensen was my 2nd Mission President (right at the end of my mission) in Porto Alegre, and continued to be an influence over the years. Just viewed some pictures of him, Asael Sorensen, and my Dad together at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Sao Paulo temple in 1978. The joy in their eyes to be celebrating that momentous occasion together is evident.

Elder Sorensen and his wife Janet invited my companion (Elder Josenildo Dias) and I for dinner when we served as young missionaries in the Ferreira district of the Sao Paulo South mission, around fall of 1984. They were living in the Portais de Morumbi at the time. They were so gracious and kind. We had a zone conference a few weeks later and sister Sorensen baked home-made apple pies for us - a welcome treat indeed. They were a lovely couple - the light of Christ radiated in their countenances. Best wishes to all of you. Elder Jim Tripp

We offer our love and best wishes to you at this difficult time. Although we weren"t personally acquainted with your husband, we knew he was a great man; this was confirmed in the obituary. Our prayers are with you and your family. We wish we could offer you our condolences personally, but know you are in our thoughts.

On behalf of the Omer family, we offer our love and sincerest wishes to the Sorensen family at this time. My father, Wayne Omer, passed away just two months ago. But he was a dear friend to Lynn, and worked with him at Litton Industries. He often commented on how much he admired Lynn, and how much he valued his friendship. And I (Brad) served as one of Lynn's missionaries in Brazil back in 1974-75, and loved and admired him for his great leadership. We have stayed in touch through the years, and I'm grateful for his kindness to me. Our family has made a contribution to the PEF fund in memory of Lynn. May the Lord's blessings be with your family at this time.

Even though I never met Lynn personally, I was under his influence and Presidency as a convert to the Church in Brazil in 1972. Just like me, many more members enjoyed his leadership and great positive impact on their testimonies, including Brazilians that currently serve or have once served as General Authorities in the 1st Quorum of the Seventy. The seeds he has sown in the great land of Brazil are countless and will go forth into eternity multiplied by the thousands. Thank you Lynn for what you have done for so many children of our Eternal Father in foreign lands. You are part of history and will always be remembered. May all family members be comforted in the assurance that Lynn will receive his crown of glory.
