Margaret Hamilton Moyes, age 91, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully July 19, 2016 surrounded by family members.
Margaret was born August 12, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah the daughter of George M. and Annie Hoggan Hamilton. She graduated from the University of Utah as a Dietician. She did her residency at St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Margaret was called to serve a LDS mission to the British Mission where she met Blythe, as he was completing his missionary service. Margaret married J. Blythe Moyes on May 18, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was always active in the church serving in many ward and church callings. Primary, Sunday School, Young Women's & Relief Society teacher. Relief Society President and as head of the valley wide Special Needs Mutual. Later Blythe and Margaret were called to preside over the California San Jose LDS Mission.
Margaret was an excellent story teller, she loved books, and was an avid reader. She loved flowers and her "little garden" of orchids were a special delight. Her quick wit always brought a smile. She was generous, always gracious and kind to those who took care of her, even when she was in pain. Margaret loved people. Her family, neighbors, friends and missionaries were so important to her. She touched the lives of all those she came in contact with. We love her and she will be greatly missed.
Survived by her son, Jim (Jill) Moyes, Salt Lake; ten grandchildren, Sheryl Thorell, Melissa (Steve) Thatcher, Michelle (Dan) Potter, Christina (Ben) Sachs, Elizabeth (Deven) Wood, Brooke (Tyson) Riley, Andrew (Elly) Moyes, Stephanie (Robert) Walgamott, Esther (Jordan) Wright, Joseph Moyes; and twenty three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband Blythe and daughter Sherryll.
The family would like to express appreciation to the excellent and caring staff of Legacy Health Care, and her Aids at Cottonwood Creek Assisted Living. Brian Ellis, her nephew had a special place in her heart for his loving, tender care.
