Marilyn Ames Bown passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 2, 2016. She was born January 15, 1938 in Moroni, Utah to Verda Marie Lund Ames and Raymond Burley Ames. She graduated from Springville High School and worked at a local bank as a teller and for many years as the receptionist for Don and Greg Sansom DDS. She also attended Brigham Young University. She married Roger L. Bown in the Salt Lake Temple on August 19, 1960 and settled in Salt Lake City, UT. She is survived by her loving husband, Roger and her seven children, Stacy (Michael) Murdock, Kyle (Christine) Bown, Torri (David) Barney, Ryan (Sandi) Bown, Flynn (Melissa) Bown, Megan (Gilis) Sessions, and “her Brit Brit” (Britney) Bown; 22 grandchildren and great grandson, Liam. She is also survived by her three sisters, Bonnie (Norman) Aplanalp, Yvonne (E. Kaae) Cook, D’Ann (Don) Whitehead.
Marilyn is known for her selfless service to her family and others. Her family was the most important part of her life and they knew she loved them unconditionally. Her grandchildren loved Grammies and enjoyed spending time in her home playing and eating delicious food. She served faithfully in all the auxiliaries of the LDS Church. She was a dedicated visiting teacher and had a great love for the Savior. She served as the Savior did. The family would like to express appreciation to the capable staff at LDS Hospital for their loving care during her final days.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Olympus Stake Center, 2675 East 4430 South, Salt Lake City, where friends and family can visit Wednesday evening 6:00-8:00pm and Thursday morning 9:30-10:30am prior to the service.
