Dear Shade and family,

I am so sorry that I couldn't make it to the viewing or funeral due to illness but I really wish I could have been there. We all loved Sharon so much. She kept such a positive attitude no matter how tough it was for her. Sharon had a super fun loving and outgoing personality. You can see it shining through the picture posted here. That light shines through your whole family and that is the best kind of legacy and memory to leave behind. May the Lord Bless all of you.

Sharon and I first met early in 1960.
She was a teenage blonde Norwegian girl from Minneapolis; I was simply a nephew, new to the world. Little did I know how much joy she would bring to my life.
Sharon eventually moved away and attended college in Arizona and then married Shade from Salt Lake City, Utah. This was OK because her sister, my mom, made sure we saw a lot of them over the years.
Many of my best childhood and young adult memories feature Sharon and her Utah extended family. Numerous trips in our station wagon, loaded with xmas gifts, and skis, or camping gear were made across the central plains of the US. They came to see us in MN just as frequently. Shade captured many of these early gatherings with his video camera and years later rewarded us with a CD of some of the highlights of these moments. How delightful to see all those folks again from my youth working in the kitchen, camping in the high desert around Utah, or wading in Long Lake. Sharon, being the wife of the camera man, was frequently featured and always smiling. It was Sharon and her crew that introduced us to Mexican food. Tacos became a regular member of the dinner rotation at the Stead household. Despite our best efforts, I still don’t think we can compete with her deep fried burritos….
As the years passed, my family has seen less of Sharon and her family. The love expressed on the phone and when we finally meet again however never waned. In the years after my mother died, Sharon voice contained both good counsel and a gentle reminder of my own mothers tone and inflection. Oh the joy of it!
It pains me that I was unable to attend the SLC ceremony paying homage to this great lady, and my heart goes out to all of those left behind by her loss.

Shade, What a wonderful person it has been my luck to have known in this life. Sharon is and was, one in a million. What happy reunions she is having and I am sure, much laughter and happy greetings from all her friends and family that have gone before her. She surely doesn't want us to grieve to much, but remember her always and to know that her suffering is over. I have enjoyed knowing all your family since 1973 when we moved in 3 homes away. Sharon and I got season passes in three different play venues and we warned the director of The Grand Theater that every place we had bought tickets they had closed down not long after. Luckily the Grand Theater is still going and Sharon and I kept going until her health wouldn't allow it. I don't know if Sharon was the instigator of all the surprise parties your family had for family and friends, but I am sure she was right in the middle of the planning. I was the recipient of one of them on my 50th birthday. Yes, she got me, I was surprised. Long gab fests with Sharon I have truly missed. Many other happenings I will remember Sharon for, but mostly her kindness, wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor. I am sure Sharon will be watching over you guys and hoping for your happiness and testimony of the gospel to get you through the days, weeks, and months ahead. As it says in Proverbs 3: 5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Sharon knew that God lives and loves us all. Have faith, and may God bless you and your family.
Love Ya, Marie
