David Michael Corn passed away peacefully on October 29, 2017, surrounded by his family after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. Dave was born on April 26, 1941 in Milford, Utah to Eva Curran and Martin Corn. He moved to Salt Lake City in his teens. In his early twenties, Dave lived and worked in Europe. After moving back, he married the love of his life, Gayla Memmott on May 10, 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple. Shortly after, they moved to Idaho where they had 3 beautiful daughters. They returned to the Salt Lake area in 1979 and have lived there ever since. Dave is survived by his beautiful wife, Gayla, his daughters, Amy Morley (Clint) and Lezlie Corn (Shawn), 7 grandchildren, Taelor (Cade), Madison, Hannah, Grace, Isabel, Olivia and Kaden and 1 great-granddaughter, Skylar. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sydne Adams and his mother, Eva Curran. His family takes comfort in knowing that they have been reunited. Dave was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He loved to laugh, and his daughters fondly remember him laughing to the point of tears on many occasions. Dave was a proud member of the LDS church, and devoted his life to its teachings. He worked very hard and excelled at everything he did. Dave started his career at Arnold Machinery Company and eventually moved into the VP of Sales position. At 47, he made the bold decision to change careers and became a stock broker, where he thrived. He had many clients and colleagues that ended up becoming life-long friends. Golfing was one of his favorite pastimes. If it was a sunny day, Dave could be found on the golf course no matter the temperature. But above all, Dave’s favorite way to spend his time was with his family. He loved getting the whole family together for vacations, dinners, outings, or game nights. He loved his family, and his family loved him. Below are messages from his grandchildren:

Grandpa was the sweetest, funniest, strongest, most compassionate man I know. He was a proud priesthood holder, and such a positive example to all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a laugh that was contagious. He was so light hearted and kind. He had the sweetest eyes, and a smile that lit up the room. He was a champion at Canasta. He always told the best stories, and I loved hearing every detail of them all. I am so glad that my sweet baby Skylar got to make him a great-grandpa. I love you and I’m going to miss you grandpa.

When I think of my gpa I think of someone who has been there for me throughout my whole life. He was always so supportive and there to help me grow into my happiest, strongest, best self. He has always kept our family so close, and constantly shows his love and care for each and every friend and family member in his life. I admire his strong appreciation for the little things. A few of his favorite things are ice cream, golfing, playing cards, cracking jokes, spending time with his family, and my lovely gma, Gayla. I will forever be grateful for the memories he created and left behind. Love you Grandpa.

I have never seen anyone light up a room with a perfectly timed joke, especially when he would laugh himself to tears, like my grandpa. He had this amazing way of making you feel like the most special person in the world every time you walked into the room. I’m so lucky to have had the best movie and lunch date at my side for so long. Thank you for being the best friend, and an even better grandpa. I love and miss you forever.

Love, Hannah Bird

When I think of my grandpa, my memories are clouded with one obvious similarity. I can’t think of a day we spent together where he didn’t make me laugh at least once. I cherish those memories, because no one knew how to laugh at their own jokes like Dave Corn did. His laugh was infectious; if he was laughing, the rest of the room was laughing. He showed me the dignity that comes with being able to laugh at myself, and will always be an example of grace and character. He lived a life full of love, and I am so proud to be able to call him my grandpa. His excitement for the milestones in our lives made me all the more motivated to reach my goals. He made everyone in his life feel special. He was so proud of his family, and was truly the support that made us what we are today. I can’t think of anyone who loved life more, or lived with more appreciation for his surroundings. Thank you for showing me what a life well lived looks like. I love you grandpa.

Love, Gracie

My grandpa was one of the most caring and kind people I have ever known. He was an amazing role model and taught me many life lessons. I cannot begin to explain how grateful I am to have had him as a grandfather. He helped me to grow into the person I am today and I would not change that for the world. I love you so much, grandpa. Thanks for making me one of the happiest girls in the world.

Love, Izzy

My grandpa was someone that I looked up to in every way. He always seemed to do the right thing. I am so proud to be able to call him my grandfather. He always made me laugh from the witty comments he would make. There was never a dull moment when I was around him. I am happy he is able to see my beautiful mother up in heaven; Rest in paradise.

Love, Livy-Lou

My grandpa was the best grandpa anyone could ever have. He made me feel better whenever I was feeling down and took care of me when I was visiting his house. When I was small he would get me my favorite two ice creams, chocolate and vanilla. He gave the best hugs, and always comforted me when I was sad. We would go golfing together, and that was my favorite thing to do with him. I will always miss him and I’m glad he’s in a better place now. Love you grandpa.

Love, Kado
