Dear Family, we are so sorry for the passing of your mother. My sister and I didn't hear about the funeral until after the fact, otherwise we would have supported it. Our mother, Beverly Hanks Nicholes, loved her "Aunt Jo" dearly. We heard so many stories about clothes that your mother sewed for our mom when she visited Tooele. Your mother was such an upbeat person and so cheerful. We had the opportunity to visit her in recent years when my daughter needed to interview a relative about an ancestor. She did the report on Grandma Hanks. Fun memories! Anyway, we are so sorry for your loss and pray for blessings of comfort and strength to you and your dad during this difficult time. With love, Susan Nicholes Whipple, and Peggy Nicholes Halliday

Our heartfelt sympathy to the family at the loss of this great lady. Her son, Dennis, was my Stake President when he called me to be Bishop of our Ward. His sweet and caring gentle nature is a direct reflection on the sweet mother who raised him. And now I have the privilege of serving with him in the Kansas City Missouri Temple as the Temple President. I know she was proud of all of her children. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family tonight.

Dear Karpowitz Family,
It was with sadness that we read the passing of your dear mother, grandmother and our friend, Alice Karpowitz. . It has been almost 40 years that we have lived in the Kenwood 2nd Ward and have cherished our friendship with Alice and Frank throughout the entire time. I was their home teacher for over 20 years prior to leaving on our mission in January 2016. I have missed their friendship. Alice's ever present optimism and smile was a highlight of our visits. Her love for Frank was obvious and her concern for his well being always exceeded her own personal concerns. It was a testament of her high character by the life long friends she had with members of the Kenwood 2nd Ward and those that had lived in the ward and stayed in contact with her. Weekly and monthly dinners were very important to her and again demonstrated her life long loyalty to many. Alice loved her family and was very proud of their many significant accomplishments. She would update us every month on what everyone was doing in their careers, their church callings and their family events. You brought to her, her greatest happiness and you are certainly her greatest pride and joy. Celebrate her life and know of our love from Sharon, Vermont. We wish could be there with you, but we will be there in spirit as your rejoice in her life and accomplishments. We will be smiling and laughing with you as we think of her this Thursday. You are in our prayers and thoughts.
Much love,
Elder David and Sister Karen Fuhriman

Just a quick note from an old Kenwood 2nd Ward member. Dennis and I were the same age, sharing many adventures as youth. Dennis, I saw your mother often over the last many years in an around East Mill Creek. She always remembered me and was so cheerful, kind and generous in her greetings. She also altered a few clothing items for me when she worked over on 21st E. and 21st So. I enjoyed reading her obituary and noting all that she accomplished. She was truly a beautiful woman both inside and out. Happy for you all that she lived a long and worthy life. My sorrow for all of you in her passing. Charlotte

Dear Karpowitz Family,

I loved your mom.
From my earliest teenage years I cherish the time I spent in your home. Your mom made it a pleasant place with warmth and support.
A note to Dennis. Your lifelong friendship has meat the world to me. Much of whatever I have accomplished in my life can be directly attributed to your example.
Sincerely,
Ron kelly
